Briiv Fragrances; add fragrance to your home with new Briiv essential oils

Briiv 2 and Briiv 2 Pro have a built-in fragrance diffuser, so that after the harmful pollutants have been removed from the air in your home you can add back something better. Using natural fragrance oils can freshen up your room and change the entire mood of a space, and there are even some studies that show essential oils to have health and wellness benefits.

What fragrances can I use in Briiv 2?

We recommend using essential oils to add fragrance to your Briiv 2 or Briiv 2 Pro. Up to 10 drops on the fragrance bud (but no more so as not to over saturate it!) will keep your home smelling fresh or use less for a more subtle scent. Any essential oil can be used in Briiv 2, it’s all down to your individual preference.

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are plant extracts which capture the scent, or ‘essence’, of the plant. They are obtained from leaves, bark, fruit, or flowers and can be used topically, through aromatherapy, or combined with creams or bath products!

When using pure essential oils in your home it’s important to know how to use them safely.

Which essential oils are safe?

All essential oils should have a safety data sheet, or SDS, which is to help ensure that chemicals are used safely without risk of harm to users or the environment. The SDS will list possible hazards related to the oils, and generally include warnings about flammability or skin irritation. As a consumer you shouldn’t need to access the SDS, but knowing they exist and what to look for can be helpful if needed. Your fragrance oil packaging or bottle should have relevant warning labels from the SDS if applicable to help you make safer choices. 

Generally small quantities of fragrance oil diffused in the air wouldn’t necessarily cause reactions or severe risks, but it’s advisable to ensure a given option is suitable for you and your home. Some essential oils can be harmful to young children, pets, or those who are pregnant. Researching the essential oil, you want to use beforehand will ensure you can take any necessary safety precautions.

Anyone who knows Briiv knows we’re inspired by nature, and when developing our fragrances this was still at the forefront. We want you to feel transported, whether it’s to a calming beach front or a tranquil mountainside, Briiv fragrances are designed to be soothing and natural. Each of our fragrances is made up of pure essential oils, so there’s no dilution, fillers, or additives. Most are steam distilled, meaning the plant matter is heated in water before the steam is condensed and the essential oils are separated out from the water. Citrus oils are extracted via a cold press method, which involves using machinery to press and squeeze the oils and juices out of the fruit before the oil is separated.

Briiv fragrances are made from a blend of oils which, after mixing, are left to rest to give them time to fuse together to create a cohesive, even scent.

            Mountain

The first of our Briiv fragrances is inspired by mountain air and fresh mornings with earthy, citrus, and floral scents. The crisp mountain fragrance is a blend of energising Scots pine, mood-boosting bergamot, stress-relieving grapefruit, and anxiety-busting ylang ylang. The airy feeling of an early, dew-filled morning can be brought into your home, taking your mind to the exotic alpine mountains without leaving your sofa.  

            Beach

Our coastal-inspired fragrance, Beach is designed to be calming, reducing anxiety and improving sleep with its Amyris, lime, lavender, and marjoram. The soothing waves and salty spray conjure up relaxation and peace right in your home. With an herby freshness, you’ll feel like you’re watching a sunrise from the dunes.

            Forest

The final scent in our fragrance trio is inspired by Friluftsliv, the Norwegian concept of a simple life in nature that doesn’t destroy or disturb it. Living harmoniously with nature and protecting our natural spaces is at the heart of sustainability, and our Forest scent evokes a sense of being at one with the earth. With a spicy, woody fragrance, this scent blends benzoin, frankincense, and Ho wood to provide an uplifting yet relaxing atmosphere, perfect for getting cosy. The sweet, earthy aroma of the forest will make you feel at one with nature. 

How to add fragrance to Briiv 2

Adding your new fragrances to your Briiv 2 couldn’t be easier! Simply remove the glass, first filter, and coconut to reveal the diffuser stick next to the nano matrix. Remove the fragrance stick and its attached diffuser bud from the Briiv base and add up to 1-3 drops of essential oil to the bud before replacing it back into the well. Don’t oversaturate the bud as this can cause excess fragrance to leak into your Briiv.

Replace the glass and filters, and next time your Briiv is running the new fragrance will disperse.

You can use a cleaning stick to wipe out the chamber in the Briiv base before replacing the stick, and you can save your used bud if you want to swap back to your previous scent or you can dispose of it for a new one. Just make sure you keep the diffuser stick! This is a specially made anodised aluminium stick that will last as long as your Briiv.

We recommend that one fragrance is used per bud, but each bud can continue to be used and refilled as desired.
